SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera, Pants! is a party video game based on the TV series SpongeBob SquarePants. It was released in October 2005 for the Xbox, PlayStation 2, GameCube, Game Boy Advance, and the PC. It was released for the Nintendo DS in Korea in 2007, but its North American release was cancelled. The game is based on the Mario Party series of video games, and it is the first SpongeBob SquarePants title to feature multiplayer mini-games.[2]
Plot
SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights!, Camera!, Pants!, the city of Bikini Bottom is producing a show called "The Adventures of Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy" in which the titular SpongeBob wishes to play as the starring role.[2] SpongeBob must compete with the other characters in the series – including Patrick Star, Sandy Cheeks, Squidward Tentacles, Mr. Krabs and Sheldon J. Plankton – in order to impress the talent scouts and land the lead role of the villain.[3]
Gameplay
SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights!, Camera!, Pants! features three gameplay modes: "story mode", "quick game", and a "tournament mode". The game features over 30 different mini-games in which players cooperate with or compete against each other.[3] Players take turns selecting which mini-game to play. Mini-games include knocking opponents off a small ring into a pool of sludge, a Krusty Krab-cooking contest which involves button-mashing, and a barnacle-scraping exercise in which two-player teams compete to scrape barnacles off a tower.[2] At the beginning, only a select few mini-games (called "auditions") are available, and players must perform well in those to unlock the other mini-games.In the Game Boy Advance version, you can play as SpongeBob SquarePants, Sandy Cheeks, Patrick Star, and Squidward. There is only a "Story Mode", and many minigames are scatered around.[4]
